Inventory Supervisor

About the role 

Reporting to the Director of Operations, Distribution, the incumbent is responsible for managing and overseeing all functions related to inventory control and location management. He or she ensures the accuracy, integrity and optimization of inventory storage.

Responsibilities

Inventory management and localization

  • Analyze and resolve inventory trends and issues, and produce reports of findings.
  • Identify and correct inventory accuracy or item location issues to enable order processing and assembly, while supporting replenishment, shipping, and receiving departments.
  • Plan and execute the inventory-related portion of the annual external audit.
  • Prepare accurate inventory reports and ensure the link between transactional inventory management and finances.
  • Maintain the cycle counting program (supervisors, material handlers and office workers) on a daily basis and complete associated reports.
  • Manage the physical setup and maintenance of all warehouse inventory locations (drop-off areas, pick-up areas, stockpiles).
  • Provide formats and guidelines for the physical marking of locations (e.g., labels, signs).
  • Establish and maintain the warehouse item storage system, assigning items to primary locations based on sales trends.
  • Determine minimum and maximum quantities for each location as well as resupply aisles.
  • Analyze product movement on a quarterly basis, make necessary adjustments, and assign physical item movements to the Shipping Clerk.
  • Analyze replenishment trends and, if necessary, intervene on items and location types to optimize operations.
  • Oversee the day-to-day functions related to site management. 
  • Analyze inventory and zone reports.
  • Maintain and replace location labels as required.
  • Review and update the master file of the parts.
  • Identify employee errors and fill out the appropriate form.
  • Complete the warehouse section of the Customer Complaint Registry.
  • Maintain a structured and cost-effective management system to support the overall operations of the company.
  • Establish and enforce inventory management policies and procedures.
  • Analyze data and make outcome-oriented decisions.

Administration

  • Participate in the day-to-day management of warehouse operations, personnel, performance and equipment, in collaboration with the administrative team and the manager.
  • Replace your colleague in case of absence or vacation.
  • Ensure the health and safety of warehouse personnel, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with warehouse staff, while respecting the current collective agreement.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse by prioritizing and delegating maintenance responsibilities.
  • Work in collaboration with Leviton Canada and U.S. departments.

Staff

  • Regularly review the organizational structure of the work to ensure optimal efficiency, and present proposals for changes to the team.
  • Analyze and manage the performance of the employees under his/her responsibility.
  • Ensure the continuous training, supervision and motivation of the employees in his or her charge.
  • Intervene in the event of non-compliance with procedures or behavioral problems, with the support of the administrative team and human resources.

  • Ensure the application and maintenance of ISO standards for the documentation of all relevant transactions and communications.
  • Perform specific analyses or special projects at the request of his/her supervisor.
  • Complete the necessary training to be able to assist or temporarily replace other warehouse supervisors.

  • Excellent command of French and English, both oral and written. We are looking for someone who is proficient in English to communicate with contacts across Canada and with colleagues in the United States.

The Inventory Supervisor must have in-depth knowledge of: 

  • Operational procedures and workflows as well as the operation of WMS and ERP systems in terms of inventory management and transactions.
  • Techniques for the analysis and investigation of stock movements.
  • Administrative and clerical procedures, including task processing systems, file and folder management, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Techniques to optimize the efficient distribution of assets, as well as a good knowledge of the principles and methods related to cyclical accounts, inventory management, etc.
  • General computer systems, especially Excel and have very good analytical skills.

Education and Experience 

  • College diploma in supply chain, logistics, inventory management or equivalent and relevant experience in a related field
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in inventory management.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in personnel management.
