Marked Controlled Receptacles

The NEC requires all 15A & 20A, 125V receptacles that are automatically controlled to be marked with a specific symbol and the word “CONTROLLED” on the device.

How they work:

  • Occupancy sensors
    • Receptacles can be wired to occupancy sensors that detect when a space is occupied and turn on power accordingly
  • Timers
    • Receptacles can be programmed to turn on and off at specific times, ensuring they are only powered during designated periods
