Field Service Technician, Quebec

About the role 

Reporting to the Project Manager, the incumbent is responsible for commissioning and servicing systems and products, primarily lighting control systems. They will establish a commissioning or service plan by studying system requirements and specifications, gathering components and parts as per the bill of material, completing installations, programming functions, and performing acceptance tests. Additionally, they will provide training to end users on the operation and basic maintenance of the systems.

Responsibilities

  • Integrates components into systems based on specifications.
  • Installs equipment and devices not covered by electrical contractors.
  • Services existing installations by modifying or adding components.
  • Conducts maintenance tests.
  • Trains end users on system operation and maintenance.
  • Reviews work requests and as-built diagrams.
  • Tests and troubleshoots systems and components.
  • Identifies root causes of equipment failures
  • Determines solutions to problems.
  • Plans field trips and maintains tools and equipment.
  • Documents service and installation actions.
  • Suggests improved methods and techniques.
  • Recommends system improvements.
  • Manages competing priorities.
  • Follows security and safety procedures.
  • Promotes equipment and systems during technical presentations.
  • Supports sales team with technical advice.
  • Performs special assignments as required.
  • Ensures ISO compliance in documentation.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read schematic drawings and use Bluebeam, Visio, and AutoCAD.
  • Proficient with test equipment and hand tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional image and confident handling of technical problems.
  • Flexible schedule availability.

Education and Experience 

  • Diploma in a relevant trade or degree in electrical/electronic technology.
  • BICSI Certification and IATSE membership are assets.
