Wireless Done Right: Leviton’s New GreenConnect™ Wireless Lighting Control

Leviton’s user-friendly, code-compliant, and scalable GreenConnect system brings a new level of simplicity to wireless lighting control design, installation, and programming

For the many contractors who have been overwhelmed by complex and hard-to-program wireless lighting controls, an exciting new solution has entered the chat – Leviton’s new GreenConnect Wireless. Code-compliant, commission-free, and easy to design, install, and program, GreenConnect is a simple, scalable solution that makes wireless lighting control a breeze and contractor callbacks a thing of the past.

Leviton’s Isaac Shelley, Product Manager, Controls, answers some of the most frequently asked questions about GreenConnect and why this dynamic new solution appeals to distributors, contractors, and end users alike.

What is GreenConnect Wireless?

Shelley:  GreenConnect is a new, single-zone wireless lighting control system whose Push-to-Pair (P2P) technology makes it easy to design with, install, and program.  GreenConnect enables the power of dimming, occupancy/vacancy sensing, and daylight harvesting with simplified control right at the wall or with a load controller in the ceiling.  Among its many other benefits, the GreenConnect system doesn’t need a room controller, hub, or gateway, which can become expensive. It also doesn’t require factory commissioning or an app to program it, which can be tedious and confusing for contractors and end users.

What applications is GreenConnect optimal for?

Shelley:  GreenConnect is ideal for small, single zones applications such as offices, conference rooms, common areas, small medical or dental practices, educational spaces, and corridors.

What other benefits does GreenConnect offer?

Shelley:  GreenConnect’s flexible, scalable platform allows contractors and end users to start small and expand, ultimately pairing up to 16 devices together. The system readily meets building energy code requirements for IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, and 2025 California Title 24, Part 6 space/area control, dimming, manual-ON/OFF, occupancy/vacancy control, and automatic shutoff.  GreenConnect’s simple, wireless approach with minimal components means fewer SKUs that distributors need to stock, and contractors will love the ability to add wireless control to virtually any switching or dimming device in both retrofit and new construction applications without the need for new wiring.  For a simple switching or dimming application, users simply need to determine the loads they want to control and select the appropriate load control devices. From there they can expand the system with additional controls, including a wireless companion dimmer or switch for multi-way control, a wireless sensor with an integrated photocell for occupancy/vacancy sensing and daylight harvesting, and a wireless feed-through controlled receptacle for plug load control.

Where/how does GreenConnect fit amid Leviton’s other wireless solutions?

Shelley:  Designed for smaller spaces, GreenConnect represents the evolution of and replacement for Leviton’s Lumina RF system, which provides single or multi-zone room control capable of switching, dimming, and occupancy/vacancy sensing as well as additional lighting control strategies like scenes, daylight harvesting, and receptacle control through an app and room controller (neither of which GreenConnect requires thanks to its Push-to-Pair (P2P) technology). On the other side of the spectrum – e.g., for larger spaces -- Leviton’s wireless Smart Ceiling Mount Sensors (CMS) offer all-in-one, self-contained standalone or networked multi-zone lighting control fully configurable through Leviton’s Smart Sensor App. The introduction of GreenConnect fills an important niche in Leviton's wireless portfolio by providing a commission-free solution.

Why will distributors love Leviton’s new GreenConnect wireless lighting control solution?

Shelley:  GreenConnect’s flexibility allows contractor and end user customers to build this system as they go, pairing a dimmer or wall switch with a load controller for a basic application, or adding additional wireless components for more control capabilities. Color change kits are also available. Given today’s high demand for a distributor’s limited shelf space, GreenConnect’s simple design featuring 10 components in total (including both occupancy/vacancy sensing and photocell capabilities) translates to fewer SKUs that distributors need to stock relative to competing systems. And distributors can always count on Leviton’s renowned team of knowledgeable customer service, technical support, and field support associates to be there whenever they need them.
