The firmware for a Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen D26HD Dimmer, D215S Switch, D215P Mini Plug-In Switch, and D23LP Mini Plug-In Dimmer can now be updated to enable Matter compatibility. Additional Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices are planned for future updates. 

Adding Matter Support to your Decora Smart 2nd Gen Wi-Fi Device:

The update instructions below will guide you through the firmware update process, including how to view your Matter QR pairing code using the My Leviton app.  Once the update is complete, your device will be able to be enrolled to any Matter-certified smart home platform including Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, and Samsung SmartThings via a compatible Matter controller.

If you are using your Decora Smart Wi-Fi devices with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, IFTTT, August, or Schlage, updating your compatible Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices to Matter will not impact your existing integrations. Once updated, you can retrieve your Matter pairing code at any time under “Device Settings” in the My Leviton app.

For Apple HomeKit users updating to Matter will remove your Decora Smart Wi-Fi device’s current connection to Apple HomeKit. After the update is complete, your device will need to be re-added to the Apple Home app using the Matter pairing code provided by the My Leviton app under device settings. Enrolling in Leviton’s Matter Early Access Program

To enroll into the Matter Early Access Program:

1. Update your My Leviton app to the latest version (3.32.1 or later).

2. Login to the My Leviton app and select the Menu icon (≡) in the upper right-hand corner.

3. From the menu, select Matter Early Access Program.

4. Read the on-screen information and click Enroll to join the Matter Early Access Program. 

You will receive a confirmation message that you have been enrolled in the program and Matter firmware will be made available to you for your compatible Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices.

Updating your compatible Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices to Matter firmware

To update to Matter firmware for compatible Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices:

1. Start with your device(s) enrolled in the My Leviton app. 

2. Select the Menu Icon (≡) in the upper right corner.

3. From the menu, select Updates.

Depending on your current version of firmware, you may see a prompt to update to firmware 1.5.0 or later. Your device must be updated to at least firmware version 1.4.8 in order to install the Matter firmware, which is Version 2.1.0 or later.

After making sure your device firmware is Version 1.4.8 or later, follow the below steps to update your device to Matter firmware 2.1.0.

4. From the System Updates screen, select Check for Updates.

• Press OK when prompted for 'Cloud Firmware Check'
• The screen will indicate that 'Your devices are downloading updates'

At this time, your device is downloading the Matter firmware.  The process can take several minutes.  If you don't want to wait you can return to this screen in 10 to 15 minutes, or if you leave your app active, it will show the Update when available. When the Matter firmware version 2.1.0 or later has been downloaded and is available for installation:

5. Select UPDATE ALL to update all your compatible devices, or select UPDATE for a specific device.

The next screen will display an Important Notice if you are an Apple HomeKit user:

Updating device firmware to Version 2.1.0 or later (i.e. Matter firmware) will remove your device’s connection to HomeKit and your device(s) will need to be re-added to the Apple Home app using the Matter QR pairing code. Click to here to learn more.

If you are using your Decora Smart Wi-Fi devices with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, IFTTT, or Schlage, updating your compatible Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices to Matter will not impact your existing integrations.

Once you are ready to proceed, select I understand to continue.

Once the Mater update has completed for your device(s) you will receive the confirmation screen below. Select Finish

After you have completed the update process, you can always retrieve your Matter QR pairing code using Device Settings in the My Leviton app.

• Each Matter QR pairing code is unique for each device
• Pressing Save allows the code
  • to be saved as an image
  • to be printed
  • to be emailed or sent as a message to another device
• The QR code is used with any Matter enabled controller
