Leviton Introduces 30/32 Amp Slope Top Stainless Steel Disconnect Switches

The latest addition to the Powerswitch® line, designed with sanitation in mind and built to last

Melville, N.Y. September 15, 2020 – Leviton announced today the launch of the new slope top stainless steel disconnect switch, the latest addition to the company’s Powerswitch® line. The launch includes 30/32 Amp devices with a 15-degree sloped top that helps push water and debris away from the door, switch, and other critical device components. This new and innovative product design was driven by the sanitation and safety needs of the industrial market.

“After speaking to several food & beverage manufacturers, it was easy to identify opportunities to improve disconnect switch products currently in the market,” said Andrew Taddoni, senior product manager, Leviton’s Commercial & Industrial business unit. “With our new sloped design, we were able to address sanitation shortcomings of existing products while also maintaining the same advantages of our Powerswitch stainless steel disconnect line that benefit our customers.”

These devices are ideal for critical areas in food & beverage processing facilities and other corrosive manufacturing environments where sanitation and washdowns are important, now more than ever. By adding a sloped top to Leviton’s existing stainless steel disconnect, any food and debris is more aptly pushed away from the switch handle mechanics and any water is directed away from the door opening during intense washdown procedures. These devices are dual rated to cover jobs that spec in 30 A or 32 A requirements.

These devices also feature industry-leading environmental ratings including IP66, IP67, industry-exclusive IP68 for long-term submersion and IP69K for high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns, as well as NEMA 3R, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 and 13 ratings. As a result, these devices can withstand the wet, corrosive and demanding environments of manufacturing facilities. A three-fourth inch standoff from the wall allows for easy cleaning and inspection behind the unit, exceeding NEC® 300.6 air space requirements. Additionally, they are NSF certified for hygiene requirements in the food & beverage industry, adding yet another layer of protection.

Unlike most competitors’ small and plastic versions, Leviton’s stainless steel disconnect features a longer, more durable handle and steel switch rod. With an anti-slip rubber overmold, this handle is larger, easier to access and actuate, accommodating three padlocks to comply with OSHA lockout/tagout regulations. These new devices feature a compact design to fit more disconnects in one space, while at the same time offering the most room inside the enclosure for wiring.

The slope top disconnects also feature the same benefits of Leviton’s existing Powerswitch® stainless steel disconnects. To learn more about the benefits of these devices or about the entire Powerswitch® line, visit www.leviton.com/powerswitch.
