IEC 60309 is an international construction and performance standard from the International Electrotechnical Commission, or IEC, for "plugs, socket-outlets and couplers for industrial purposes". It references two different Series: Series I, which covers amperages commonly used internationally and Series II, which covers amperages primarily used in North America.
