With data center power demand expected to nearly double by 2030, electrical contractors are essential in getting the right products into their projects in a timely way and earning the trust of their customers.
With the need for parts and devices growing exponentially, meeting the demand has been difficult for most companies. Leviton has developed a strategy to make sure products are ready much faster than in the past. Having products on hand during normal times is one thing, but during a natural disaster or building boom, time-saving solutions become critical.
Integrated Business Planning
“Two or three years ago, we might receive an unexpected order for 5,000 units of a particular part, and it could take six to eight weeks to get it made. Sometimes, we might not have been prepared with things like raw materials. Now we have a great team and strategy in place,” Stated Eric Yarrows, Leviton Manager for Industrial Products.
“We keep a year’s inventory of raw materials on hand to account for most of the big orders, so we can ramp up production and get those products to contractors in two to three weeks instead of six to eight weeks, which gives us a significant advantage over competitors still offering long lead times,” Yarrows added.
Leviton created an Integrated Business Plan to improve responsiveness in forecasting by proactively combining sales data, market trends and project-based input into our monthly forecast. This strategy allows sales teams to be better equipped to drive the key conversions by including their field experience in demand planning. The goal is to meet and exceed customer expectations and build trust.
Rapid Response Manufacturing
The Rapid Response Manufacturing process focuses on industrial products that are challenging to forecast because of their project-based nature. This program has succeeded by optimizing component inventories for targeted product categories, implementing daily order tracking, aggressive planning and transparent lead time communication via Leviton’s Partner Portal (B2B) and customer service team.
Product categories included in RRM planning are:
Distributors may not be able to stock thousands of parts, but the assurance that they can be made available quickly inspires confidence in Leviton’s ability to partner with them. Our industrial sales team is committed to fostering strong relationships with distributors and contractors. Knowing Leviton is working hard to meet demand helps everyone rest easier.
