Leviton and Rezek Equipment

Leviton and Rezek Equipment
Support solutions for successful Covid-19 response efforts

For over 60 years, Rezek Equipment has been designing and building structural solutions for incident deployment during events such as natural disaster response, construction, and government projects. Family owned and operated, Rezek is committed to service and quality and has aided thousands of response events, holding the nation’s longest record of incident support. In 2020 alone, Rezek deployed over 140 support packages. In addition to providing custom solutions for incident deployment, daily operations include continual fleet improvement, maintenance, and construction.

To provide this trusted incident support, Rezek develops a variety of solutions including communication trailers, field kitchens, power distribution systems, helicopter operations support, lighting structures and more. The infrastructure throughout all of these solutions requires, among other things, electrical wiring devices for power. The electrical wiring devices found in these solutions range from standard and USB wall outlets to GFCI and surge protected devices to large, industrial grade plugs and connectors. The electrical wiring devices required depends on the type of solution being built, which Rezek determines throughout designing and planning.

Regardless of the application, Leviton is Rezek’s primary manufacturer of choice for electrical wiring devices, providing safe and reliable power connections. One of the many recent successful operations that Rezek and Leviton completed together involved providing support for several COVID-19 response efforts in Los Angeles – including testing, treatment and vaccine distribution locations.

A Team Effort - Rezek Equipment and Leviton

Recently, Rezek supported the city of Los Angeles’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the early stages of the pandemic, Dodger Stadium was one of many areas converted into a temporary health care facility. With the help of Rezek, the city was able to set up over 130 tents and 50 light towers to support rapid testing and treatment. To ensure these structures provided safe and reliable power connections, like all Rezek structures, they were designed with Leviton electrical wiring devices.

Throughout the facility lay a high number of power cables for operating critical machinery and equipment, the ends of which feature Leviton’s industrial plugs and connectors. These devices, backed by a limited lifetime product warranty, were chosen for their easy installation and ability to withstand daily abuse.

Like most temporary applications, adaptability is extremely important. The facility utilized mobile carts to push power and data to and from location. Rezek customized these carts with Leviton’s industrial grade power inlets, which are impact-resistant and suitable for outdoor use. The carts also include Leviton’s USB receptacles, which feature tamper-resistant outlets and Type-A USB charging ports. By having both standard power receptacles and USB ports on the carts, the facility could easily meet its charging needs.

Once vaccines were available for distribution, even more temporary treatment facilities were needed to serve the city. Dodger Stadium and additional locales were turned into mass vaccination sites. Refrigeration solutions were set up to keep the vaccines at optimal temperatures. Rezek supported these efforts by providing resources with Leviton temporary power equipment, including single pole cam devices. Designed for easy assembly and disassembly, these heavy-duty plugs and connectors are rated for high amperage applications and are vibration-proof, ensuring safe and secure power.

During COVID-19 testing and vaccine distribution, Rezek supplied the stadium with command center communication trailers to support day-to-day operations. These large units, which can hydraulically expand over 700-square feet, require the same infrastructure that a commercial building would: power, networking solutions and lighting. To support these needs, Rezek designed the inside of these centers with Leviton devices. For power access, the structures feature Leviton’s standard receptacles and pop-up floor boxes, which recede into the table or flooring when not in use. Users simply press and release to access the outlets and USB ports. Lighted GFCI receptacles throughout the structure improve safety for users by providing protection from electrical shock. The structures also integrate Leviton’s occupancy sensors to provide smart energy savings.
