Measuring Energy in Each Stands
The regional markets must offer all the services and equipment necessary for proper functioning of each stand. This way, small local merchants can focus on what they do best; amaze our taste buds. Regional markets are good places to discover and encourage small vendors. This unique destination offers visitors privileged contact with local producers and processors.
The “Grand Marché de Québec”
The Grand Marché de Québec wanted to determine the exact amount of energy consumed by each of the 18 stands, and so it turned to Leviton for our measurement and monitoring solutions. While all the wiring was already deployed in the existing infrastructure, market managers were impressed when they learned that Leviton’s measurement solutions could easily be connected to their existing wiring without having to run new wires and connect into their BMS (Building Management System) with BACNET MSTP topology.
The managers already knew the Leviton brand through the quality of its products, which reassured them even before the start of the project.
Throughout the installation and programming, our team of professionals made the connection without a problem. One of the most appreciated aspects was the service offered by our team. Our specialists are present at every stage of the installation and always ready to help.
The Solution
The solution was to install meters (VerifEye™ 4100 series bi-directional ModBus RTU and BACnet MS / TP) at each stand. Each of the 18 meters were connected to the existing wiring which is Cat 5 network cabling. Then everything is routed to the customer’s building management system (BMS).
When the solution was completed, market managers could now track all energy data on their software, ensuring accuracy of billing and credits. Thus, each user will be able to pay the right price according to the energy consumed in their stand.
