In the event of a power outage, the VPT24 Decora® 24-Hour Programmable Timer is equipped with a battery backup* so that the date and time settings will remain as indicated below:
- The date and time will be maintained for up to 3 days (72 hours)
- The programmable options and schedules are stored until factory reset
* Battery life may vary depending on a variety of variables including the age of the device and how often it is woken up during an outage. As with cell phones and other electronics, the battery capacity in the VPT24 timer may decrease over time.
- Depending upon the length of the outage, two scenarios are possible:
- Power outage where time and date are not lost
- If the power outage is short in duration, the device should reset on its own once power has been restored.
- The device will have the current day and time displayed on the screen, and no action is required.
- Power outage when time and date are lost
- If the power outage is longer in duration, the time and date will need to be manually reset once power has been restored.
- The device will go through a reset with 12:00 AM flashing on the LCD screen for 30 seconds and then will settle on the default time of 12:00 AM. The clock will start and continue running at this time, so it will need to be reset to reflect the correct time.
- Power outage where time and date are not lost
