Technical Sales Specialist - Commercial and Industrial, Quebec

About the role 

The incumbent will be critical in developing and maintaining relationships with Leviton product specifiers, providing expertise and technical support. Reporting directly to the Sales Director, he/she will be responsible for project management, user training and competitive intelligence, thus playing a strategic role in the company's progress. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain contact with all parties that specify Leviton products, including but not limited to architects, consulting engineers, electrical engineers, various government-level purchasing departments, industrial specifiers, and major electrical contractors. He/She will provide them with all the services they need (such as samples, literature, specifier's catalog and copies of product specifications) and organize informative meetings for all types of specifiers, as required. 
  • Ensure proper follow-up of specifications and ensure that when Leviton products have been specified, the company has obtained the order and the product has been used. 
  • Report the specifier's needs to Leviton management by suggesting new products, promotional literature, policy changes, etc. 
  • Perform material pick-ups from electrical/architectural drawings and/or verify product application by customers and/or agents. Maintain a record and manage changes in material application due to addenda and/or changes in orders on a project-by-project basis. 
  • Coordinate the creation and review of approval drawing sets with the CAD department during the tendering process. 
  • Maintain complete records of the specifier's name, where Leviton was specified, job description, etc., and notify Leviton's head office so that they can pass this information on to other areas that may be involved. 
  • Be responsible for product training at end-user or specifier sites and, if necessary, at distributor and contractor level. 
  • Coordinate training efforts with the local Territory Manager, according to the latter's sales plan. 
  • Conduct market analysis to assess product trends. 
  • Actively participate in marketing support programs (trade shows, lunch and learns, joint calls) that are planned in their region. 
  • Keep abreast of competitive bids and ensure compatibility and compliance with design intent during the specification cross-referencing process. 
  • Keep up to date with applicable local energy codes; Maintain and promote Leviton hardware application best practices to their satisfaction. 
  • The incumbent, depending on the region, may be required for strategic national account efforts as part of a national prosecution team. 
  • Ensure adequate technical coverage and support for strategic accounts that are sold directly to drive both regional and national sales. 
  • The incumbent will manage and maintain accurate project information in the SampS system and actively participate in all monthly and quarterly sales meetings.

Qualifications

  • Electrical Technical Skills: A solid understanding of electrical principles, codes, and standards is essential for this position.
  • Ability to interact with specifiers: The incumbent must be able to establish and maintain relationships with professionals such as architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Project management skills: The ability to effectively manage projects, follow specifications, and follow up is crucial.
  • Knowledge of Leviton Products: The incumbent must be familiar with the Leviton product line and be able to provide information to specifiers.
  • Communication skills: Clear and effective communication is required to coordinate with internal teams, customers, and partners. 
  • Technology Watch: Staying up to date with the latest trends and technologies in the field of commercial and industrial is important for success in this role

Education and Experience 

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the field of lighting controls or related fields.
  • Must hold a college diploma and/or a journeyman electrical technician (CET) certification.
