Product Manager Canada

About the role

Reporting to the Product Management Director, the Product Manager is responsible for overseeing all products in their portfolio, including end-to-end project management of new product introductions in Canada. This role involves conducting market research, collaborating with US Product Management, and serving as a bridge across departments to align goals. The incumbent takes charge of item creation, costing, pricing, and training, ensuring effective launches, and plays a pivotal role in managing the entire product lifecycle, making strategic recommendations for product placement and pricing adjustments.

Responsibilities

New Product Introductions (NPI):

  • Responsible for overseeing the entire project management process for new product introductions, ensuring punctual launches adapted for the Canadian market.
  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape for the Canadian market (including forecasting, pricing, additional product features, etc.).
  • Collaborate with US Product Management to ensure Canadian launch needs are met and conduct regular reviews.
  • Act as a bridge between different departments (operations, sales, marketing, finance, engineering, packaging, etc.), and communicate regularly to ensure alignment of NPI goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for item creation, packaging, forecasting, pricing, and training.
  • Coordinate engineering and graphic aspects/timelines for packaging. Work together with graphic designers to develop marketing collateral (sales tools merchandising) to ensure effective Canadian launch.
  • Ensure product related data integrity in Oracle to allow quotes and sales.
  • Develop business cases for new products, improvements, and ventures as needed for the Canadian market. 

Product Lifecycle Management:

  • Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle, including end-of-life strategy.
  • Develop and propose strategies for discontinuing non-performing products such as customizations or promotions to boost or sell them off.
  • Collaborate with Sales and recommend appropriate product placement, channel, and promotional plans.
  • Review and evaluate profitability margins on product lines and propose costing/pricing adjustments as needed.
  • Collect and incorporate feedback for continuous improvement of products.
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and commercial events.
  • Act as the product leader within the company.
  • Collaborate with marketing in developing tools, promotions, and merchandising materials to support product sales. 

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and financial aspects (budgeting and forecasting)
  • Attention to detail, especially in product specifications and requirements.
  • Ability to think strategically and proficient in conducting market research and analysis.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated on industry trends and advancements.
  • Basic understanding of relevant technologies and technical aspects related to the product.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business, marketing, engineering, etc.)
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in product management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English.
  • Familiarity with the industry, an asset.
  • Experience in Oracle, SAP, or other ERP systems, an asset
