Analyst, Credit and Deductions

About the role 

Reporting to the Credit Manager, the incumbent is responsible for collection and deduction activities according to the assigned client list. Achieving the short and long-term objectives of the department. He/she will work as a team with analysts, client agreements and claims, and the Credit Manager.

Responsibilities

Credit Functions

  • Analyze the accounts receivable ledger and monitor the details of customer accounts in case of non-payment, late payment, and other irregularities.
  • Respond to internal and external customer requests in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the cash receipts technician to resolve un-reconciled check situations.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the sales team to work together to eliminate payment issues.
  • Release orders: Verify customer accounts to ensure they are up to date with their payments and do not exceed their credit limit.
  • Collect unpaid balances by phone, email, or portal.
  • Send account statements and credit notes to customers upon request.
  • Interact with customers to resolve unresolved issues.
  • Identify any problematic situations and report them to the manager for resolution.

Deductions

  • Identify, research, and resolve customer debit/claim issues.
  • Maintain, analyze, and reconcile invoices and deductions, and identify discrepancies.
  • Send claim requests for approval and follow up with the approver.
  • Prepare compensations for accounts receivable and present them to the manager for approval, based on predetermined limits and guidelines. Once approved, scan all ISO forms and other relevant documents.
  • Identify any problematic situations and report them to the manager for resolution.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices (Accounts Receivable, credit, bookkeeping techniques, legal tracing and collection).
  • Experience in a computerized environment (Windows and Excel).
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, precedents, and government regulations (insurance and bankruptcy laws, regulations, policies, and procedures).
  • Skills in interpersonal relations and reasoning to identify solutions.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written. We are looking for someone proficient in English to communicate with contacts across Canada and with colleagues in the United States.
  • Good judgment and ability to prioritize.

Education and Experience 

  • Must hold a college diploma in administration or commerce.
  • Or have three (3) years of relevant work experience.
