Where you need GFCI protection
GFCI outlets monitor the electrical power that is fed to anything plugged into the outlet. If a ground-fault is detected, it shuts off power to the item in a fraction of a second to help prevent serious injury or death. Ground faults occur when a current flows along an unintended path, such as through water or a person. For example:
- Operating electrical equipment in wet or damp conditions
